What are the principal objectives of this project?
This collaborative project will provide you with meaningful web 2.0 tools and online resources to foster your speaking skills. You will have the opportunity to discuss and share ideas with university students and/or eight-grade students. With this project, you will be able to:
- Use language related to radio programs as well as conversation strategies, language for agreeing/disagreeing and giving opinions.
- Decide on the elements of a radio program collaboratively and plan the design and presentation of the broadcast
- Engage in speaking activities that will foster your spoken fluency.
- Develop argumentative skills through discussions where you can show your points of view, agree and/or disagree with your peers.
- Foster your critical thinking skills, specially analyzing and evaluating, by implementing peer-feedback and collaborative work.
- Manage web 2.0 tools and online resources that will allow you to practice and improve your fluency
What is the expected final product?
At the end of this collaborative project, you and your group members are going to present a radio program, where you will share your opinions on certain topics. You will include: name, motto, topics, roles, etc. and you will show the type of program, its characteristics, stages, etc. by using any web 2.0 tool that you have previously explored and agreed. What are the stages? In order to achieve your goal, the creation of your radio program, you will go through the following stages. |

Collaborative learning
This project requires you to work with the help of others in order to achieve the best product: your radio program. For this purpose, you will need to assume full responsibility of your functions in your group and give all your collaboration to your peers. In each activity, you will need to discuss and agree with your group members in all the aspects of the radio program, so please listen carefully to others, share your ideas respectfully, accept others’ opinions, and assign tasks according to your own abilities and preferences. We recommend you to give yourself roles within your group and monitor each other; you could have a leader/monitor, time-keeper, moderator, secretary, etc.
Scaffolding Opportunities
Your teachers will help you during each learning object and activity by providing you with tutorials of the use of the different web 2.0 tools, resources where you will find samples of radio programs, peer-feedback, etc. We will also adapt (grade) our language to your level and give you step-by-step instructions with modeling.
